If you follow me on social media you will have been spammed last weekend with my trip to Amsterdam. This is the second time I’ve visited the city, so I thought i’ll tell you over a couple of posts; all the ways I have fun if you don’t smoke or want to spend the whole time in the red light district. I decided to bring my boyfriend here as a treat for his birthday. As KLM are now flying from Southampton, this made our trip so easy. The airport is 10 minutes from our house and it’s so small you only have to arrive 60 minutes before your flight. Enough time for a wine with my cooked breakfast.
How not to be cultural
My previous visit included the Anne Frank museum, Van Gogh museum etc, and we had decided that wasn’t the kind of weekend we wanted. It was for us to let our hair down and enjoy Paul’s birthday. We arrived late morning and got an Uber to our hotel, once checked in we washed up and caught the tram into the centre. Our first stop was GlowGolf Amsterdam.
I was told about GlowGolf Amsterdam by a close friend of mine, and her photos looked amazing, so we decided to check it out. It’s underneath Grand Cafe Noah’s Arq so it can be easily missed. We found our way there via google map and stopped for a quick beer and snack in the cafe. You’re not allowed to take drinks down with you, so we drank up and paid for our round of golf at the bar. For 9.75E each you get a round on the 15 hole course and your 3D glasses.
I can’t see!
Once the glasses are on the glow in the dark paint jumps out at you and becomes very psychedelic. It was at this point I was glad I wasn’t too drunk as you could easily feel nauseous. I did particularly well and only lost by 4 points, I think this was due to not being able to clearly see and batting the ball as hard as I could. I would definitely recommend GlowGolf Amsterdam as an afternoon well spent out of the cold, doing something hilarious and a little bit unusual.
