My 2017 Travel Essentials

Last year I told you all about my 2016 travel essentials, so I thought while planning my American East Coast road trip I should share my 2017 travel essentials. For me, the important things to consider when moving around is organisation and space saving. So here are my new favourites.

The case

I reviewed my Antler suitcase last year, which you can check out here.

Packing Cubes

I’ve read online a lot about packing cubes so I thought it was time to give them a go. I picked up this pack of three for £6 on eBay. They are thin and lightweight, ideal for separating underwear from tops. This should be a real time saver when packing and unpacking. They also came with three handy laundry bags, great as I usually make do with an old carrier bag.

Travel Straighteners

Now I may be the only person who didn’t know this, but the USA run off a lower voltage than the UK. My friend who I am staying with in New York told me to check the voltage to see if my current straighteners are compatible. Sadly they’re not. I’ve picked up these tiny hot pink Babyliss Nano Mini Travel straighteners for £15 and they have worldwide voltage. So not only a great space saver, but I tried them out yesterday and they even managed to tame my tangled mess of extensions.

Hoody and Sweats

I used to feel that the airport was a time to get glammed up, this i’ve realised is fine for a two hour flight to Ibiza but not a seven hour long haul. Comfort is key! I’ve gone to Primark and picked up some £6 sweats and a £5 hoody to keep me comfortable. Also a top tip is pack some thick fluffy socks, I hate having freezing toes from the aircon.

Travel Pillow

My travel pillow was in need of upgrading, I wanted one of the face down pillows I’ve seen on Facebook. However, Paul said he would disown me! So I grabbed this super soft memory foam travel pillow for £12 from TK Maxx. It’s really sturdy and should keep my drooling head upright.

I’m not one for a backpack, but my DSLR gets heavy! So I’ve decided to give this cute little backpack for £16 from Boohoo a go, to keep all my stuff together and hands free.
