Trying to Keep Fit at Manor Farm Country Park

A few weeks ago I talked about how Alice (Annie Writes Beauty) and I attempted to go walking in a bid to keep fit. And how it didn’t go so well, as the ponies in the New Forest were a big distraction. Well, we have now been successful, when we decided to go to Manor Farm Country Park for the afternoon.

What to Wear?

You know you’re not the outdoorsy type, when your biggest concern is what to wear! However, with our rucksacks, wellies and all wrapped up like Michelin Man we ventured out to Manor Farm Country Park.

Now, I’d be lying if I said we weren’t the only ones there without children. But we decided to not look like weirdos and embrace it. From petting calves, looking at baby chicks, piglets, bunnies and ducks trying to get across the iced over lake, we had a great afternoon.

The old farmhouse was really interesting, with old props and a Victorian schoolroom. Of course we grabbed the dunce hat as soon as we saw it!

More than we bargained for!

We decided to walk out to the fields and looked at the donkeys and chickens. When we reached the pig sty we definitely got more than we bargained for! They put on one hell of a show! Trying to shake off that ‘educational’ experience we walked out further in a bid to burn off some calories.

Alice and I still in shock.

With Alice’s new wellies broken in, and now covered in mud, we stopped for a cup of tea. We were feeling rather proud of ourselves for not caving and having cake, and of course venturing out on a cold Saturday afternoon, when snuggling up on the sofa in my pajamas seemed like the far more appealing option.

Have you tried any weird and wonderful ways to get you moving?
